LION *likes* the (RR) train, with its shiny new R-27s and R-30s.Those were the cats pajamas back in '66 when I joined the Navy. Rode to Whitehall Street on one. Got to waste most of the day there wending my way on a line through darkend hallways. Then they put us on some PRR sleepers to Chicago. In the morning we were there. Seems like the overnight train to Chicago is a GOOD way to go. You could spend your whole business day there, and then come back on the night train to NYP, and not have to pay for hotels in CHI. Not that they Navy was going to let me come back on the next train. They but me on a different train, and before long we were at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station. (Boot Camp). Oh well. The Navy was a good thing, and I got to ride on all sorts of trains in Japan and Hong Kong. ROAR |
