According to MTA crowding data posted in an earlier thread, the (V) is 50% crowded during the peak hour.

So if you took the same number of people currently on 600' trains (50% load) and put them on 480' trains, the peak load would be 62.5%, which is still very low compared with the rest of the system (and that's IF you keep the TPH levels the same).

(In short, the answer to your question is...not really.)

Anyway, what I'd do is combine the (M) and the (V), call it the (M) 6th Ave Local, and have it run 9 TPH peak (the same peak TPH level of the current (V) IIRC). 6 trains originate from Metropolitan Ave and 3 trains originate from Crescent St.
