Am I wrong?Probably, although I do not know for sure. Magnetic media, yes that is exactly right. Optical Media, such as the the CD-R disks that I can use in my camera, those cannot be changed or erased at all. CD-RW disks that I can also used can be reformatted, but that *does* erase everything and there is no way to recover it (AFIK). But that takes time. As for electronic media such as Nilet used, LION does not know how it works. I think that a "Reformat" command would simply return all registers to zero. No hope of any recovery in that. LION suspects a delete command would do that for individual images. But who knows. Maybe all it does is delete the directory, in which case the data would still be available. LION suspects that different systems might do it differently. LION also thinks that he *will* use CD-R rather than CD-RW disks when visiting the Big Apple. ROAR |
