First off, I've had my own encounters with the cops (although not photography related), so I know exactly how you felt and it is a damn shame that you had to be put through that.Secondly, its a good thing that you managed to get the cops badge numbers, as that means you could positively identify them later on in case you decide to launch a civil action against them, the Dept., or both. What I would also do is to get the time, the order of events, and the locations down cold. Thirdly, when the opportunity permits, I would seek out an attorney, either ACLU or someone else (within your budget, of course). If you decide to retain whoever you find, be sure to relate all of the facts to them as they happened - they will figure out what can and cannot be attacked about the officer's actions at that point (and trust me on this: they might find that it was not one thing but something else that is implicated by those officers' action, depending on what you tell them). Oh yeah, and do file the complaint against the officers. |
