The size of the base on top, or the equipment below? The control panel was the size it was, and not because of the controller. It was designed for the slider of course, and without the straight air shaft below, so it originally wasn't as bad.But if they had to go with a standard straight air controller, then the one used on the M class (probably a GE) would have been better, because the biggest difficulty with the Westcode was that when you are moving it, it is right in your chest (plus the popup problem, especially when moving it). The shorter the controller, the better it would have been. With those, it looks like you would have more space for leverage. The Staten Island cars did get the WABCO, I believe, and it looks like it is even longer, and higher and more to the left. |
