I don't mind the police checking in on us. But I do mind when it goes further than that. Most of my run-ins with the NYPD have been simple checking-ins that lasted maybe a minute or two and didn't involve me missing any photo opportunities or missing any trains or being lied to or having my camera taken away. What Jarid experienced was all that, and that is wrong. It doesn't have to be like that, and many times it isn't. So when something like this does happen, it is worth making it known so people can learn how to prevent it. |
