The subway is not a place to satisfy our personal urges. It's a shared facility. Too many people haven't been raised right, or forget what they learned, or simply lack a sense of personal fastidiousness. On any train where people have brought foods like fried chicken, burgers, egg sandwiches, fries, chinese food or any hot food, there WILL be food scraps and garbage and litter and grease left behind. This will reduce the quality of the ride for proceeding passengers. Hence the laws banning eating, drinking and smoking on public conveyances. It's the only way to at least attempt to keep these piggish behaviors in check, besides public disdain of the slobs. And yeah, I'm also thinking of those who have drinks on the trains too. |
