We have a small telephone cooperative.There are no operators of any sort. If you dial "O" here an operator somewhere down south or someplace will reply. She can help you, but she is NOT in the local telephone office. I presume the same for 411: It is contracted out. Once upon a time our internet connection went down on a saturday evening, and because I could not reach the phone company at their regular business number, I simply dialed "O" and told the operator of my problem. She had no clue what I was talking about. I told her to just to turn the server off and turn it on again. That is when I found out that she was a contract operator and not sitting in the local Dickinson phone office. Oh well. modern teknoledgy. ROAR™ |
