Disorderly Conduct refers to you, basically, making a scene. Which you did.Not to split hairs, but what my citation actually states is "unruly behavior." I have no idea whether that is the same as disorderly conduct. They sound equally bad to me. I never made a "scene" unless you have a very broad definition of what that might entail. He asked me questions and I calmly answered each one, even though my answers were not to his satisfaction. Neither one of us ever raised our voice. He used that tough, in charge cop voice, which made him seem angry, but I couldn't say for sure if he actually was. Our conversation lasted maybe 20-30 seconds before he handcuffed me. By the time it was over four of the five deputies (including the commander) spoke to me at some point. Every single one of them said that what I did wrong was not presenting my ID. There was never any mention of unruly behavior. Even as the original deputy handed me the summons he reiterated that my mistake was not providing identification. I was surprised as I signed it to notice that the infraction cited was unruly behavior. I'm still perplexed. |
