The major ones are the third rail and approaching trains.I all station where their are emergency exit stairs beyond the ends of the platform one does not need to enter the track bed to get to the exit. The emergency exit is accessed by way of the tunnel walkway. The third rail is always on the opposite side of the tunnel from the walkway. Even in the event of a train evacuation in a tunnel walking in and or crossing the track bed to get to the exit is not necessary in more the 95 percent of the underground sections of the system. In 100 percent of the underground of the sections of the system one never has to walk near or step over the third rail to get to the tunnel walkway.
