They sure took their sweet time dismantling that abandoned el segment. It was still largely intact when I drove along Jamaica Ave. in October of 1988.Exactly. I remember summer 1987 taking the B53 bus from Ridgewood to Sutphin to catch the LIRR. The structure ended right there. It was cool seeing the old stations still intact for awhile. Especially Metropolitan Ave. |
