The book by Greg Gil and Louis Guadagni covers the R-46 front line signs and roll signs (p. 224-245).
For some reason they did not detail the signs in as-built configuration.
They did show "1977 Replacement Signs-Front Route" as follows:
E (white on light blue bullet)
F (white on magenta bullet)
N (white on amber bullet)
EE (white on orange bullet)
GG (white on medium green bullet)
S (black on white bullet)
Here are the side signs ("same system as used on the R-44's" (according to Gil and Guadagni). They have N over S destinations on exterior plus corresponding colored bullet, while interior sign has a line-specific strip map and corresponding colored bullet.
