Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Tue Jan 7 08:23:33 2025 Tuscarora Almanac for January 7 1952 – from The Book of Last Runs This is the last day of trolley service in Reading, Pennsylvania. 1989 – from The Book of First Runs Tri-Rail begins operation of regional rail service between West Palm Beach and Miami, Florida. This service is now run by the Southern Florida Regional Transit Authority. 1996 – from The Book of Wrecks Two trains collided at the Bushwick Avenue - Aberdeen Street Station on the BMT 14th Street Line. A Manhattan- bound "L" train was struck in the rear by a light train due to icy rails. The consist of the revenue "L" train was (8Av end) 4447-6, 4431-0, 4404-5, 4426-7. The consist of the deadhead was (8Av end) 4428-9, 4419-8, 4434-5, 4444-5. R-40's 4427 and 4428 were mentioned as being destroyed in the collision.
