Re: Paris Fare Restructuring

The lack of a metro/bus transfer does not make much difference within Paris.

83% of the buildings are within 500 meters (0.3 miles) of a Metro entrance. The 1901 goal was to expand the Metro so that every building in Paris (the 20 arrondissments) would be within 500 meters. They have come pretty close.

The conventional threshold is 800 meters (0.5 miles) of a Metro entrance. That's 97% of all buildings in Paris.

The bus system is clearly superfluous, even though 95% of the buildings are within 400 meters of a bus stop.

As a point of comparison, the figure for NYC (5 boroughs) is 43% within 800 meters of a subway entrance and 73% within 800 meters of a bus stop.
