The latter sounds like a gimmic that could only pay off during the rush hour where multiple trains are simultaneously powering up and braking into stations at the same time in the same power section substation limit. On 20 minute midnight service where you may have 2 trains, timing is everything or with TA luck the first train is clear of Woodlawn going on the post to Mosholu while the train waiting for a pocket jolts up while the substation laughs at regenerating braking off the Con Ed meters. No coasting clocks here :-) |
