R32's replaced the usual R27/30/A's on the QB in anticipation of the route & north terminal change via 6th Avenue & 205th Street.I witnessed the last northbound F of R9's at 34th & 6th Avenue preparing to depart for 179th Street Jamaica just as a southbound F consisting of R38's entered the station on B1 track & signed up for Coney Island. Possibly the first F towards Coney Island under the merge. Rode the F to W4th where what may have been the first southbound D of R4's arrived. Traveled via Chrystie Street over the bridge to DeKalb Avenue where there was crowded mass confusion even after 12:00 AM. After the track was cut into the Chrystie Street tunnel at the Manhattan portal of the Manhattan Bridge, and prior to the BMT-IND actual merge, a group of R9's, flat wheels and all, traveled back and forth over the tracks to polish the rails between Grand & Pacific Streets using the bypass tracks at DeKalb. It was a night to remember. |
