Re. the aftermath of Sandy: I've noted that the Montague tunnel's dimensions from the inside of the "tube" were narrower (15' 6") than a typical IND river crossing (15' 9"), also considering the placement of the base of rail. But what the repairs of that tunnel did viz prewar museum cars, there is concern among old-time transit buffs that the conversion of the entire system to CBTC will totally finish off the job. On the #7 Flushing line, no museum cars of any age can ever run at all anymore. (I.I.N.M., the last time that ever happened was in 2018.) |
