Question: What was the advantage of the helical-cut gears v/s the spur-cut bull and pinion gears (other than noise)? IIRC, last time I heard a MN P32AC-DM engine running in 3 rail power, It sounded much like an R1-9. Seems like the Spur-cut gears are still being used.
