The 9th Ave el could not handle Composite cars because of its weak structure, especially in the older sections, south of 53rd St. On June 10th, 1940, the last day of service, 15 Composite cars ran up the 9th Ave el for the Polo Grounds shuttle service. They ran in five 3-train sets. |
