I seem to recall that by the mid-70s, the R-15s (as well as the R-12 and R-14) were no longer being used as lead motors. Not sure when this took place, as I was living in Illinois from July 1971-June 1974 and was only in NYC on limited occasions. I do recall riding a 2 train to Newlots with an R-12 or R-14 as lead (south) motor. |
