It's not as much of a late night city though.Ha. It can't be much of a late night city because the Tube closes! NYC provides the demand. Consider MNRR, which does close at night, unlike LIRR, which doesn't. But even MNRR never really fully shuts down. It's first train of the morning departs New Haven at 4:00 AM. It's last train of the night arrives there at 3:56 AM. Grand Central itself manages to achieve no trains from 2:13 AM to 5:28 AM. MNRR could eliminate some late night trains if it wanted to - they are answerable to virtually no one. But they don't because those early and late trains actually serve customers. |
