Evidently you never ridden a R train at 12:30-1:30 AM heading to Bay Ridge. It`s packed. D trains,L trains, F trains, A trains and 1,2,4 and 7, while not crush loaded have sizeable passenger loads also.Most are very light while some are busy. Is not an accurate statement. AZ is still a culture shock to me, even after 35 years. The sidewalks roll up after 9PM. I would take an afternoon flight into JFK, get in about 11:30 PM and head to Bklyn. It was a welcome relief to find plenty of restaurants open when I got to Bklyn. While some of the present weekend/late night closures are inconvient there are plenty of alternate routes to use, including the LIRR from JFK/Jamaica.
