So, are you saying that my memory of such events are faulty?

I have family members that live in Queensbridge Houses 41 Ave side.
63rd st was nowhere near complete then, and the station that would become a mainstay of the neighborhood (21st St Queensbridge) just began construction.

The Queensboro Plaza station was the closest thing we had at the time, served by the RR and 7 lines.

Up the street on Jackson Ave was the Queens Plaza station, served by the E F GG and N.
Since the GG was closer to my home at the time, I usually took that train to Long Island City, and walked to 41st Ave/21st St.

I was there the very first day of the service changes, and hopped on a brand spanking new R46S in N service.

As a matter of fact, there were very few trains I remember that weren't R46S.

While I Did ride an R16 on the N,most of the cars were in GG service.

The Majority of the fleet, however, were being transferred back to the East for LL service.. and all remaining R1/9 were placed in J service from then on,as they were about to go bye bye for good.

I know what I speak of, since I was there.
