Bill: Car 817 was built as a steam trailer for the Brooklyn Elevated Railroad in 1884 as car 75. It was re-numbered to 817 in 1903-04. It was re-built by the Transit Development Corporation in 1909 (probably as a result of the above collision). It was subsequently re-numbered to 1282 in 1930 and then to 648 by 1940.
