All reasons for "weekend construction" is east of Kew Gardens, as CBTC is being overlaid on the two branch lines.The M never goes beyond 71st Avenue in regular service. Crew's are written into operations budgets just like food cost are for restaurants. The problem here is what is the MTA willing to adjust to improve services like they promised several years ago. What we did receive was a service pattern that worked Very well for riders, that was taken away. The M line uptown to 96th st was a hit with late night,and weekend crowds. These days, there are just as many riders using the system as weekday riders, but with only 3 quarter service provided. Of course, as we've known,weekend and nights are the primary construction period. It's fine. 6th Avenue and 8th Avenue are undergoing CBTC installation. Perhaps after this is done,service expansion can be put back on the table. |
