By the time the SIRT cars were developed, the electric portions on the H drawheads were changed from the older “slide” which had to be manually advanced from the uncoupling valve to a different style of electric portion that advances automatically as soon as the coupling was made. The SIRTs would actually be able to couple to the D types and the R-1/9s. |
