I was raised by a Holocaust survivor who was orphaned at 14 and came face to face with Josef Mengele. She didn't see her surviving siblings from January 1944 until July of 1958, when she came to America.Studies have been made of the mental and emotional disorders of the children of Holocaust survivors. There is evidence to suggest that the change in brain chemistry of Holocaust survivors caused by the horror of the camps can be passed on to children. My mother, her two surviving sisters and many others believed that another Holocaust in this country is inevitable. That belief, perhaps somewhat watered down, was passed on to me. So, the persecution complex is real, and it is also not my fault. Does that answer your question? |
