As a partisan of Sixth Avenue rather than the Ave ofthe Americas, I have some sympathy for retaining traditional names. That said, IMHO the naming of rail stations is supposed to aid pax in getting to their destinations. For the first 6 decades of my life, the downtown terminal of the Metra Electric (former Illinois Central was Randolph Street. Then they built a park on a deck over the tracks so I have had to learn to call the station Millennium Park. |
