It is a matter of weighing risks.On Amtrak and NJT, I've seen people literally stand on the plates between cars entering NYP while zig-zagging over sharp switches into the station. There's diaphragms, but the offset between cars can be so the gangway is down to a foot in width, and they get that way very quickly. People are stupid. On a subway train, they'd be falling out all the time. |
