No, Montauk Point is about 115 miles from Coney Island. The distance to the horizon from a top of 470 foot tower is only about 25 miles.The longest sightline ever photographed is 275 miles, from a mountaintop in the Pyrenees Mountains of Spain to a peak in the French Alps near the Swiss border. There's a theoretical one of 335 miles between two mountains in China and Kyrgyzstan (now that's a hard name to spell!), but it's never been photographed. |
