Eastern Pkwy (the street) is built along the crest of the terminal moraine. Any changes in elevation along Eastern Pkwy pale in comparison to the changes in elevation getting up to Eastern Pkwy along the perpendicular avenues (Bedford, Nostrand, Utica, etc). The Grand Concourse in the Bronx is similarly situated on a different ridge. There are minor changes in elevation along the Concourse, but nothing like the slopes on either side. |
