Posted by kp5308 on Mon Sep 6 12:36:17 2021 From my Roaring Springs/Altoona customer visits:Thursday started with an Everett GP16 at Hollidaysburg. I typically call the Office Manager Michelle to get a line on if the crew is running today but they are out inspecting the ROW after the heavy rain from the September 2nd storm:: Norfolk Southern ES40DC at Gallitzin SD70ACU set pushing at Cresson: Coal train passing the Altoona Amtrak station. No Pennsylvanian today due to the rain: Nice mural inside: More rebuilds from the 8th St. bridge at Juniata. I've heard from more than one NS engineer that these are the best locomotives the railroad has: I'd really like to see that SW1001 #2102 added to the Reading Tech collection: SD70ACC #1801 has been in storage for a few months and is easily photographed from the sidewalk: Black and green SD32ECO #6220 rolled over in Atlanta and sits on shop trucks awaiting repair: Friday starts out with a local at Tyrone. Look closely at the trees...it is cool enough up here for the leaves to begin turning: #99 leads eastbound train #42: I end at the RJ Corman facility in Clearfield Pa, home base for RJC's Pennsylvania Lines. At roughly 250 miles, this is by far the largest of the Corman properties. The railroad is a combination of ex-Pennsylvania & New York Central trackage sold by Conrail in 1995 as the "Clearfield Cluster". Power is predominantly SD40-2s of Burlington Northern heritage: Corman built an enginehouse shortly after acquiring the railroad in 1995. Thanks go to Billy for letting me wander the property: This ex-Lehigh Railway GP40-2 is going to be shipped to The RJ Corman Railroad Group's Central Kentucky operation after a trip through the shop. RJC acquired the Lehigh and the Luzern & Susquehanna in October 2020: |
