If the city was smart, the R32s would get their own line, designed primarily for tourists. Refresh the best 1/2 of the remaining cars, use part time —-> 50 more years. The R32 meta-line would not run during rush hours, only tourist hours. Give those characters a name and a role. Nickname them “The Indestrucibles” (forgetting GOH and rebuilds) and note that everything from the stainless steel to the seats was Made In USA. I’ll bet some of our local hollywood talent would make a catchy video for $0 and their name at the end. In-car visuals would be vintage ads on some trains, movie-themed on others, photo history of building the cars themselves. Stops which had prominent movie placement would be announced, but on the R32 trains only. Also, restore the field shunt. These trains aren’t the best for regular service, they are the best for character. They’re also entirely designed and built in USA. If we ever have an EMP, whether natural (Carrington Event) or non-natural, the R32s will be the only operable trains. There are still people who want to be proud of their country here, here’s something real to be proud about. It’s also a quiet rebuke to the “make the country borrow and print air money, give it to China to build our stuff, then lay around and smoke dope” mindset. |
