Posted by kp5308 on Sun Nov 22 20:26:10 2020 Jersey Mike wanted to do a little signal research in the Reading PA area so we met at about 10:30 to start the tour. I started about 2 hours before that at CP MULLER, the newest Reading and Northern siding. The east (compass direction south) switch has a Reading style 3 target tri-light installed for traffic headed for points north: The RDC set passes the 4 target goalpost that directs traffic bound for the NS interchange in Reading. This tower is also a typical Reading design and is constructed from "heritage" cast elbows and hardware with new steel piping, ladders, railing & platforms. The finished product even has the little finials on the tops of the target support pipes:  Storming out of Port Clinton 3 minuets late:  And passing under the intact ex-Reading signal bridge just north of the RBMN headquarters. This is the junction where the branch to Tamaqua and eventually Williamsport splits off the original Philadelphia and Reading Main Line to Pottsville:  The Budds curve to the right and pass the replica Hall "banjo" signal then cross the Schuylkill River on the way to the next stop at Tamaqua. The Appalachian Trail crosses the railroad at this point and the RBMN allows hikers to cross the right of way:  Recently acquired ex-Norfolk Southern SD40-2 #3059 shows off the NS Admiral cab upgrade...note the slanted windshield:  The newest paint scheme on SD50-2 #5019:  The second newest paint scheme at North Reading. I like the black & gray better:  The typical 2 MP15DCs pull 97 cars left by NS during the course of the night out of Reading Yard. They will sort the interchange train a little north of here at Tuckerton for the "Fast Freight" trains that feed the other RBMN yards:  Jersey Mike arrives after the train passes so it's time to give a guided tour.
