Here is what the Rock Island Southern car # 202 in the first photo at top looked like when young long ago, in passenger operation, and in complete body form -- abe BELOW THAT -- its chopped ends version

Looks like the butchered looking version of this car had its end platforms cut off (maybe they were rotting - rusting off, heh) to shorten the car and its motorman controls on the front platform were moved inboard into the car body proper behind the new front end face where the interior vestibule bulkhead was ..
