From Quora:Several Ramblers had push button automatics in the late 50s until around 1960. All Chrysler (Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto, Chysler) automatics were either two-speed (Powerflite) or three-speed (Torqueflite) pushbuttons from about 1955 until at least 1963. I think non-pushbutton Torqueflite was an option in 64, which was the last year for their buttoned autos. 58 and 59 Edsels had their pushbuttons on the steering hub. Late 50s Mercuries (57, 58 and, possibly 59) also came with buttons. Evidently, pushbutton automatics were rather common during that part of American automotive history. My family had a 1958 Dodge Coronet with a pushbutton Powerflite automatic. The most famous 58 Plymouth Fury in the world, Christine, would have had either a 2-speed (Powerflite) or 3-speed (Torqueflite) pushbutton automatic, despite Stephen Kings novel referring to a shifter lever on several occasions.
