Space age tech, Arnine maintenance. If any MTA cars mirrored the R-44 is was the M-1A. They so were so-complicated that it to a master mechanic with the spec book right in front of him to fix them. They were very temperamental cars and they didn't like to get up in the morning. I recall many times having several trains of M-1A's sitting in the yard and not able be able to move for one reason or another. Metro-North did what they could with them but they always were labor intensive. This is one reason that they were retired the same time the ACMU's. Larry, RedbirdR33 |
