Budd distributed the stresses well in their designs but I have a vague recollection that there have been cases of cracks.In the corrosion area, one of the things stainless is susceptible to is corrosion from rust on adjacent carbon steel. I haven't peek under an RDC but Budd's mainline cars have carbon steel members in the endframe. Bill |
