If the main line along Fulton St had been the 3 tk el instead of the subway, it probably would have been able to handle it since the population simply wouldn’t have grown as much. Even if it did, the capacity would only have been needed in the peak direction and the rush hour trains into Manhattan would have been laid up somewhere midday to await the PM rush |
