Whether or not you or I consider them "great Americans", the panel of Electors who voted them in did. I'm surprised that Gov. Cuomo or CUNY have the authority to just remove the statues, I thought there was some kind of trust governing the Hall so that it would be preserved. I take an interest in it because I grew up across the street from the campus it is on, and went through the hall many times as a child. Transit relevance: The Burnside Avenue station on the Jerome Ave. line used to have the secondary name "New York University", referring to the campus on which the Hall of Fame for Great Americans is located.
