They restored the "Columbus Circle" name tablet mosaics on the 1 line not long ago, that's just one reason I don't think that name is going anywhere. It is too ingrained in the minds of New Yorkers. Plus both Italians and Hispanics would protest loudly against any plan to change the name. The fact that Columbus really was a nasty son of a bitch, cutting off the hands of Indians if they didn't bring him enough gold, won't change that. |
