SCOTUS has been wrong many times in history; a few standouts Dred Scott, Plessy v Ferguson, Citizens United, and if I spent time many others. More importantly, as Plessy makes clear, what is decided in one era, can be reversed in another. Arlen Specter liked the phrase "stare decisis" but was also co-author of a manual on how to continue abusive interrogation techniques despite Miranda.
Rail content--Plessy was a decision specifically involving accomodations on passenger trains. For many years railfan publications employed the euphemism "divided coach" when describing the Jim Crow cars in train consists.

For those of us of a certain age, De Blasio v Cuomo is very similar to Lindsay v Rockefeller--in each case supposedly of the same party but personally not inclined to cooperate.
Bill may not be perfect, but Lindsay was the last Republican I voted for and I doubt that will change in whatever time I have left.
