Although I did not know they were called "R40s", even as a 7-year old, they seemed suited for the E and F express. I never liked them on all-local routes like the L or W.My favorite slant story (I've told it before) was from late 1999- when I rode one on the J from Broad to Essex. First and only time I saw one there. I noticed that the letter "J" itself on the front rollsign was different- narrow, and with a more prominent "hook". |
