I heard somewhere the Christie Street connection to the bridge could have opened as early as 1963 but did not because they did not want to run the a A/B equipment on the IND. Had they opened it that early it would have been a phase 1 without the 6th avenue express tracks. Only the D would have been routed to the Brighton line and the F extended to CI. The rest of the reroutes would have come later.

If that is true I wonder why they did not do phase 1 in 1965 after the 32s were all in service.
