"The 63 St line was a mistake for at least two basic reasons."My point was that the 63rd Street Tunnel was a part of the whole Second Avenue Subway - Queens Line Project of which only parts of which were realized. The connecting of the 63rd Street Tunnel was a case of muddling through the problem of what to do with the "Tunnel To Nowhere" since the prospect of building the Queens Super-Express was unlikely to ever happen. The history and issues surrounding the planning to use or not use 61st Street or a much earlier plan of building a new Queens Tunnel across 74th Street are not in dispute. Mike |
