Since public authorities are funded largely with taxpayer money, the taxpayers are entitled to this information, including payroll data and documents that might be considered 'internal', to use as they see fit. The opinions taxpayers form from the information are just that--you might not agree with them, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you're not a fan, then perhaps working for a public organization isn't for your.The laws as they are codified in the NYCRR are based on a presumption of access, meaning members of the public are free to obtain copies of whatever documents or records they want, unless they meet some specific criteria for exclusion. |
