The steels had an entirely different type of electric portion from the Ds and R-9s. Also, the door jumpers were in different places, the steels having the door jumper under the drawhead and the Ds having it long side the bulkhead door which is why the doors cannot be operated on the entire train from either type car. You would think that the car equipment people working on them could have added the door control pins to the electric portion on both types so that the doors could be operated on the entire train from either type. |
