Around 1964-65 when I was very small, I rode the H&M on one of the elder steel cars with my dad from Hoboken to Hudson Terminal, his office then was at 90 West St. We rode the first car and the end door was open, nice for ventilation, but it smelled wierd and crap from the RoW kept flying into the car. Couldn't tell you which series train it was, but it did have the arched windows. I also remember the cars being rather dirty.

A short time later, might have been the same day as above, we rode a set of BMT AB Standards uptown on Broadway. Most side windows were open, and I remember it being very loud and crowded with clunking stuff under the floor.
