If so why would anyone want to go through the expense of building a light rail line only to equip it with a vehicle that carries fewer passengers than a 35 foot bus?JMHO, but that should readily answer Olog's question, nobody is going to design a US LRT around a "modern" PCC vehicle as that layout is far too small to justify the expense if building an LRT or streetcar. Something that small may be worthwhile on secondary European tram lines, but make no sense here in the US where capacity is frequently a justification for building an LRT. |
