There is a good reason to assume nothing was ever lifted. According to most accounts about the state of the station shell is that there were no rails ever installed much like the condition of ENY During WWII with a complete station shell but no rails or signals. The only difference between ENY and 76 St was that while ENY was completely tiled prior to opening, 76 St was only tiled on the S/B platform and it has never been made clear as to whether the wall was completely or only partially tiled. |
